New Patio and Walkway Build Underway in Cedar Rapids

Here's what we're working with on this Cedar Rapids front entry - a home that had real potential up front but needed a proper patio and walkway to match its look. The goal was straightforward: create a cleaner, more welcoming entry that actually feels intentional when you pull up to the house.

Before any pavers get set or any materials get placed, the ground has to be right. That's where our site prep and excavation work comes in. We brought in the John Deere 35G compact excavator to move material and get the area shaped correctly. It's the kind of machine that gives you precision in a tight residential space - close to the foundation, near the front entry, without tearing up everything around it.

Good prep is the part most people don't see, but it's the reason hardscaping holds up over time. Skip it or rush it, and you're looking at settling, cracking, and drainage issues down the road. We take that phase seriously on every single job.

The curved retaining wall and tiered steps are already taking shape, and you can see the clean lines coming together near the front door. The finished patio and walkway will tie the whole entry together - solid, level, and built to last.
